Bikes for work - freedom, flexibility, health and fitness

The government wants more people to cycle to work in order to support a cleaner and greener environment, and has created a generous tax-efficient incentive to help you get moving.

If you are eligible, you simply sacrifice a small amount from your gross salary and in return you get the use of a bicycle and cycling safety equipment for commuting, work-related activity and leisure. You can choose your bike and safety equipment from the largest selection in the UK at your local Halfords.

Not only will you be able to get out and about on two wheels, but you will be able to save on the income tax and National Insurance contributions that would otherwise have been payable by you on your salary. You'll also be able to spread the cost of cycling to work over a period of 12 months.
