The UK has the largest higher education (HE) sector in Europe, with over 50,000 courses and over 300 universities and colleges in membership of UCAS. Given all this opportunity, many young people would find the sheer diversity of choice overwhelming if they did not have access to professionally competent advisers in their schools and colleges. As a new adviser, you may be daunted by the prospect of providing the level of professional advice that your students (plus, of course, their parents) will expect.

Find out everything you need to know about our popular UCAS-based training events. By attending, you will enhance your ability, whatever the circumstances of your school or college, to successfully counsel students on all aspects of applying for HE.

Each year we run a popular workshop for international agents, where you can learn more about operating successfully as an applicant adviser in UK admissions. The next workshop will be held on 15 October 2010 and another will be run on 10 February 2011. Download a booking form for the knowledge workshops (PDF). Please contact us if you would like to know more.
If so, you may be interested in a brand new session being offered at UCAS' offices in Cheltenham on 29 November 2010. This day-long workshop will give UK school and college advisers the opportunity to find out more about how to successfully advise applicants from an international background and where to find up-to-date resources that can help answer the many questions they may have. The workshop will provide an overview of the UCAS process and the Apply system from an international perspective, and cover resources every adviser should know about when advising applicants from an international background.
This one-day workshop costs £99 +VAT and includes all materials and lunch. Participants will receive a certificate upon successful completion of the workshop. Download a booking form for the International Perspectives workshop (PDF).
This booklet is designed for staff at schools, colleges and careers offices. It explains how students go about applying for HE, how UCAS deals with applications, and the various services that we can offer to advisers. An essential read. Go to the Adviser guide page to download a copy.
