web-link training

The Professional Development Team offers full training on managing and updating course data and applicant data through web-link. Whether you are new to your job or would just benefit from a refresher, a web-link workshop will help.

Throughout the year free workshops are offered at UCAS in Cheltenham, in order for institutional staff to gain a better understanding of the courses and applicant areas on web-link. Participants will learn how to maintain data such as contact details, entry requirements and information for publications like the Big Guide, they will also receive coaching through the key principals of applicant data, including decision processing and running reports.

The training runs from about 10am to 2:30pm and includes lunch.

Who should attend?

  • Staff from UCAS member institutions who work in admissions, marketing and recruitment
  • Any member of staff responsible for maintaining institution, course and/or applicant data
  • Any technical staff that look after the institution's data electronically.

The training provides clear instructions on how to access the links from the UCAS website to provide information for the benefit of applicants through publications and the UCAS website. UCAS uses the course and institution data for books and publications such as the very popular Progression Guide series, and also behind many links on the website. The applicant data information helps to understand the terminology, codes and policies in order for institutions to maintain UCAS procedures. This training is, therefore, essential for staff with gaps in their knowledge working in this area, as it is vital to keep such valuable information up-to-date.

What does the workshop offer?

The training commences with refreshments and then the morning session covers maintaining course and institution data. Trainers will deliver a presentation covering the key possibilities of the database and attendees will have the chance to ask questions whilst viewing screens in a training environment followed by a practical database session. Lunch is then provided after which the afternoon ensues with an introduction to the field of web-link applicant data. Trainers will cover all aspects of the applicant data screens, attendees will then benefit from a practical database session including the full remit of decision-making before further refreshments, evaluations and departure.
