Thinking Skills Assessment (TSA)

Used for: Mainly Computer Science, Natural Sciences, Engineering and Economics
Used by: It is expected that at least 27 of the University of Cambridge's colleges will be using the Thinking Skills Assessment (TSA) test as part of their admissions procedures in the November / December 2008 interviews. Entry method: Applicants need do nothing special about entering for the test, as colleges will inform applicants of all admissions requirements.
Test date: The test will be administered mainly during the interview period.
Duration of test:90 minutes
Further information: Colleges will choose the format in which they will administer the test, paper-based and on-line. The test will in all cases be administered under examination conditions, with an invigilator present. Colleges will explain the procedure to candidates at the time.
If the test is taken in paper-based format then answers will need to be recorded on a special answer sheet. As the test uses multiple-choice questions this is done by marking the box on the answer sheet corresponding to the answer chosen.
If the test is taken in the on-line format then it will be given on a standard computer using a web browser style interface. Candidates will read the questions on the computer screen and indicate their answers by clicking the appropriate answer box from the choices presented.
