What is the difference between Route A and Route B?

Art and design courses are classified as Route A or Route B: applications for courses in Route A follow the same procedures as for other courses; Route B courses follow a different timetable and a different application process.

Applications to Route A courses are sent to each university or college once your application has been processed, whereas Route B courses are sent one at a time, in preference order. The two routes have different deadlines, but you do not need to complete a different application for each route - all choices are included on the same application and can be added at different times of the year. If you apply through both routes, you need to send your application which contains your Route A choices before the 15 January closing date. You can then add your Route B choices via Track later, but it needs to be before the 24 March closing date and preferably by 6 March to avoid the last-minute rush. It is an advantage to add Route B choices on Track because you can change your personal statement at the same time.

Some courses are available at the same university or college through both Route A and Route B: the course is the same; all that is different is the application process. Be careful not to apply for the same course through both routes, as this would effectively waste one of your choices.
